What is Zeit?
Zeit captures and showcases everyday's zeitgeist.
How?
1. Anyone proposes a thought.
2. Anyone votes for any one of the day's possible thoughts.
3. The thought with the most votes is the next day's zeit (and the proposer is issued a commemorative NFT).
But how?
By leveraging an open, decentralized protocol, where anyone can propose and vote for a thought.
Hmm...
The protocol is a set of smart contracts running on the Ethereum blockchain, implementing governance features, to allow for proposing and voting pieces of information.
For now, only tweets are allowed, in order to leverage Twitter's content moderation. In the future, a custom solution might be implemented.
Mechanics
Proposing
Every 24hs, a new proposing and voting period is started. During that time, anyone can propose a new thought to be the next day's zite.
Proposing requires a proposing pass. A proposing pass costs approximately 10 USD in ETH, and can be used to propose everyday, until winning the day's zeit. After that, a new pass must be purchased to propose again.
Proposing passes are non transferable and non refundable.
Voting
During the same 24hs, anyone can vote for any of the proposed thoughts.
Voting is free (plus gas) and requires no passes.
Only one vote can be cast per 24hs period. The vote can be changed to vote for another proposal before the period ends.
Zeit
After the 24hs have passed, the thought with the most votes becomes the day's zite.
The zite is showcased on the homepage for the next 24hs, while the next day's proposal and voting period takes place.
The zite's proposer is issued a commemorative NFT.
